Florida Existing Building Code: Determine Alteration Level First
Updated: 1 day ago
On a Florida commercial renovation, the Florida Existing Building Code is the starting
line. Determining Alteration Level (1, 2, or 3) is what decides the project requirements. The alteration level will ultimately determine if your project will require improving accessibility, upgrading egress, fire, and structural systems or not. The determination belongs at the start. Architects are critical for leading a Client through the Alteration jungle
Most of our projects involve occupied buildings in Central Florida. Owners, GCs, and tenants are already in the space. Delays and downtime resulting from poor upfront decision making and execution drives Clients crazy and costs more money.
If you are planning a significant alteration in Central Florida, FBC-Existing Building (CH.6) is your friend. If you're an Owner or GC and fall asleep halfway into Chapter 6, call us.
