Architectural Design Excellence
Retrograin Architecture designs authentic, modern spaces that harmonize with the unique conditions of each client and site. Founded in 2025 by Architect Darren Hargrove, Retrograin’s design process is collaborative and creative focused with minimalist detailing while underlying local context. Prioritizing the convergence of contextual feedback along with specific client requests allows Retrograin to develop deeply meaningful Architecture that remains enduring yet respectful of a particular time and place.

Located in the beautiful hills of Clermont, FL, Retrograin intends to be routed in the culture and community in which we live and work. The firm prioritizes the value of life, creative thinking, and freedom, and understands the importance of cherishing these fundamentals through responsible and careful design while respecting the environment.

Darren attended the University of Florida for undergraduate and graduate school and earned a Masters of Architecture degree with honors in 2013. Darren is a licensed Architect in Florida, a member of the AIA (American Institute of Architects), NCARB certified, and eligible for reciprocity in all US jurisdictions.

Darren’s catalog of design work is diverse within the themed entertainment industry for several entertainment hubs around Orlando. Darren has experience with support facilities, ADA and code compliance, food and beverage, offices, security, and themed environment designs.

Selected Works
Darren's career predominately focuses on commercial design projects with an emphasis on themed entertainment. This collection of work was performed under a previous design firm with industry leading entertainment clients that prohibit advertising and displaying of design documents. Therefore, the only projects presented here are residential projects created without such limitations.
